Bruce McKeever

Bruce McKeever remembered for his kind, generous ways

Bruce McKeever always had a wave for a friend when he was out on his route behind the big wheel of school bus No. 6. Morning and afternoon, he was identifiable by his Minnesota Gopher’s cap and distinctive wave that was always delivered with a smile.

“He’d flatten his hand and wiggle his fingers and he’d just smile,” said Darcy Bichler, office manager at M&M Bus Service in Maple Lake.

It was a gentle gesture from a man who fellow school bus drivers described as kind, generous and all-around good guy. McKeever who was known to his co-workers at M&M as Brucy and to his young passengers as just Bruce, passed away on April 17 after a battle with cancer.

I had a nice chat with Bruce sometime in 2020 while we were postponing our reunion. He was delightful, easy to talk with, and seemed happy and content with life in general. There was no mention of any illness at that time. Such a nice guy.....
