Russ Ferrin

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Russ Ferrin. Russ was a volunteer and a leader in the Western Hennepin County Pioneers Association and in our West Hennepin History Center museum for nearly 50 years. He carried on the work of Avery Stubbs and other museum founders as a curator, planner, and president of our board. We looked to Russ for leadership, guidance and advice. He will be sorely missed.

Arthur Russell Ferrin was born at the Wayzata hospital on August 17, 1942 to John and Merle Ferrin. He was united in marriage to Jean Sandberg on September 10, 1966. Russ and Jean had 3 children. Russ worked for Standard Oil, Maico Hearing Instruments and Starkey Hearing Technologies and retired in 2008.

In addition to his work, Russ was dedicated to his immediate family and to his extended family. He preserved his family's history, genealogy and family historical artifacts, including artifacts dating to the family's pre-revolutionary heritage.

Russ was also committed to his religious heritage and was a founder of the Wayzata Evangelical Free Church. He was a steadfast supporter and served in many ministries including Boys' Brigade, Sunday Summer School teacher and superintendent, men's discipleship, Deacon and Elder.
